African Flower Film

Come with us on a big journey through South Africa! A story about cultural exchange, extraordinary people and their social projects. An inspiring and uplifting travel movie with a strong message: Everyone can take action for a better world.

Over a year we travelled throughout South Africa searching for inspiring stories, people and outstanding projects. On our adventurous journey, we experienced the true African way of life in all it´s different colours and shapes.

The film is a Non-Profit Production. Profits are going to the projects and NPO’s who participated. Two new Non-Profit Organizations evolved through our film and will be supported through the film: Uplift e.V. and Emama Nutrition in South Africa.

Film Summary

From the wild countryside in Kwa Zulu Natale where the rural Zulu communities invited us to overcome cultural barriers and exchange knowledge, our way took us down south to the Xhosa families. Here we not just lived and learned with the people but also understood the importance of community, traditions and nature.

But what would Africa be without its breathtaking wildlife and sceneries and how can we protect and preserve such a unique ecosystem? This question lead us to four very different environmental projects where volunteers can be involved in whatever their heart beats the most for. From Primate Rescue Shelter, over recycling plastic in a very special way, to planting 7.000 trees during a massive green festival.

After all these colourful moments at beautiful places, our maybe most important project was found in an area where beauty and colour are hard to find at first sight: The Township Motherwell in Port Elizabeth. Encourage and uplift children in one of the poorest places in South Africa and bring colour in their daily life. Together with the immense energy of the locals, parents, artists and visionaries, we created a place where kids can still be kids but also learn to develop life skills and dreams.

What started as an ordinary travel movie in search of social projects finally became a  mission and a social project of its very own. With the growing of “Mamas Place”  in Motherwell our movie found its true heartbeat.

Our Goal

We put the seeds so that they can bloom. And with this thought, we want to motivate people all around the world to plant their very own seeds in any way they can. Volunteering, encouraging underprivileged people or fighting for animal welfare and environmental topics. Everyone can make a change.

The end of this story is just the beginning of another one…

Although travel documentaries became more and more popular in the past, African Flower is much more than just an ordinary travel movie.

With the film, we want to raise awareness about charity projects by telling an inspiring story about travelling, cultural exchange and helping each other.

The Impact

Supporting our project also means to support other projects! All the organizations that are shown in the film will achieve a bigger outreach and can grow off that. Furthermore, we are still permanent team members of the township project “Mamas Place” and want to keep this work up.

The documentary film is an independent production and will be initially premiered online, at film festivals, different events, universities and in private cinemas in Germany and South Africa.

With your support, we can make the best out of this movie and raise awareness for a conscious way of travelling. Our vision is to overcome cultural barriers and prejudices that many people developed through commercial media. Furthermore, the final film creates bigger attention especially for the smaller projects and helps them to grow bigger.
